"Ad Parnassus" for accordion orchestra was awarded 2nd prize at the AkoPoznań Composition Competition
The AkoPoznań Composition Competition for a piece for accordion orchestra has been concluded! On Tuesday, September 24, the competition jury, composed of renowned professors and specialists, convened to evaluate eight submissions. The competition was organized by the Department of Accordion and Contemporary Music Interpretation at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, along with the Young Composers ’Section of the Polish Composers’ Union. The jury awarded: Two Second Prizes (ex aequo), each worth 2000 PLN, for the compositions: "Ad Parnassus" by Leonardo Rizzo; "Nasłuchiwania" by Kacper Jastrzębski. Two Honorable Mentions, each worth 1000 PLN, for the compositions: "Brzmienia wojny" by Maria Savva; "Suita kurpiowska" by Michał Lipski. The jury decided not to award First or Third Prizes but expressed hope that the submitted works would attract the interest of accordion orchestras active in Poland and Europe.
